#1,536: Skinny pi a colada

Here is a really easy recipe you can throw together in less than a minute, and makes a great lower calorie pina colada.  I loved this and may or may not have had this in the middle of a nice warm (not overly hot) summer day!  :)  I will definitely make this again...and again!

1 cup ice cubes
2 oz (4 tablespoons) coconut rum
2 oz (4 tablespoons) pineapple juice
1 oz (2 tablespoons) fat-free half-and-half (I used almond/cashew milk)

Place ice in blender. Pour remaining ingredients over ice. Cover; blend until smooth.  Pour into glass; serve immediately.

#1,485: Sarasota Lemonade (or Pink Lemonade Moscato)

This went over fairly well but it is really sweet.  My sister and I both got a headache from it and we think it was from the sugar of the pink lemonade, especially since we didn't drink that much.  Would I drink this again?  Yes.  Would I rush to make it again?  No.

2 bottles Moscato
3 cups Sprite (I probably used more like 1/2 of a 2 liter bottle...at least)
1 container of frozen pink lemonade concentrate

Fresh raspberries

In a pitcher combine all of the ingredients. (I used a water infuser pitcher so I put the raspberries in the center so they weren't floating around/in the drink).  Chill until ready to drink.

#1,400: Pomosa (Pomegranate Mimosa)

Merry Christmas...and happy 1400th recipe tried/reviewed/posted!!  I made this recipe (to pretty much drink by myself!) on Christmas Morning.  You can make this as strong or as sweet as you like depending upon how much pomegranate juice you add.  I added more pomegranate juice because I like mine tasting a little less alcohol-y.  :)  Delicious...and a great breakfast drink!

2 ounces of chilled pomegrante juice
Champagne, chilled

For each drink, pour about 2 ounces of chilled pomegranate juice into a champagne flute and fill rest of the way up with chilled champagne.

#1,196: Virgin Sangria

Yesterday it was 61degrees outside.  I had the windows open, we played in the backyard on the swing set for the first time in months, and we grilled hamburgers for dinner.  This morning it's a snow day and it's been lightly snowing all day.  It is 7 days until spring.  It's time for this winter weather to be done!!  So in hopes of warm weather, I made some virgin sangria.  I would have made it non-virgin, but I'm home with Allison and it probably isn't a good idea to start drinking....yet.  Since this is non-alcoholic Allison enjoyed some too and loved it.  It is sweet though so I think I might add some more sparking water to it.  Although it sure is good as is!!

1 apple
2 limes, washed
2 lemons, washed
1 orange
3/4 cup apple juice concentrate (I think apple juice or cider would be fine too!!)
3 cups grape juice (I used cran-grape)
1 3/4 cups sparkling water or club soda
Core the apple and cut it into 8-12 slices. Place the slices in a serving pitcher. Slice the lime, lemon (seed it), and orange and place them in the in pitcher. Juice another lime and lemon and add the juice to the pitcher. Add the apple juice concentrate and grape juice. Chill until ready to serve. Immediately before serving, add the sparkling water or club soda and serve over ice, trying to get some of the fruit into each glass. Serves 4-6.

PS....I know this is NON-alcoholic but bookmarked under "alcoholic beverages."  No need to email me and tell me of my mistake, I plan on using wine instead of grape juice next time!

#1,134: Apple Cider Sangria

This sangria recipe is so good, I think I've made it three times already!  It is ridiculously easy to throw together and is a great, sweet drink.  I loved it.  LOVED it!!  I'm making it again for Christmas...I may or may not drink most of it!

1 bottle white wine (Riesling Pinot Grigio) (I used Moscato because it's what I had on hand)
2 1/2 cups apple cider
1 cup ginger ale
2 apples chopped
2 pears chopped
1/2 cup apple schnapps
Combine wine, cider, ginger ale and schnapps. Stir to combine. Add apples or other fruit you may like. Refrigerate for an hour or more before serving.

#964: Sprite Sangria

The actual name for this "recipe" is not something I want to put in a family friendly blog.  Not that I'm opposed to using foul language, but I just think it is uncalled for in this recipe.  So I changed it a little.

You just combine the ingredients using as much or as little of each as you prefer.  The original website says to use the cheapest red wine you can find.  My bottle costs $3.  :)  I chopped up the strawberries and threw them in the freezer to use as "ice cubes".   I also do not like red wine so I used a lot of Sprite to just a little bit of the red wine.

I loved this.  Loved it.  But I preferred it to have 1 bottle of wine to 2 bottles of Diet Sprite.  I totally diluted the wine but it was still really good.

This recipe also gave my dad more reasons to make fun of me since I asked him to open the wine which cost $2.99 (that's a good wine!) and had it chilling in the fridge.  I did not know that you aren't supposed to chill red wine.  How would I know that?!

Red wine
Sliced strawberries
Sprite

#626: Summer Sangria

I think my pitcher was a little to big....don't you think?!

Normally I don't bring wine to book club because I'd rather use it as an excuse to try a new recipe, but I had a bottle of Be.Wines from my recent Bzzkit and I figured it would be the perfect group of people to try this out on.

I used the Be.Fresh Chardonnay for this recipe (btw: I found my Be.Wines at Jewel and it was about $10 a bottle).  I am not a huge chardonnay fan and when I drank this just by itself it tasted like any other chardonnay (in my opinion) and I wasn't a super huge fan.  Not that the wine was bad, it was just not my favorite kind of wines to drink.  (Next time I'll be trying the Be. Flirty Pink Moscato!)  But this wine went perfectly with this sangria recipe.

As far as the overall sangria recipes goes, I LOVED it.  Granted I added more Fresca to cut down on the alcohol taste, but it was soooooo good.  I will definitely, definitely make this recipe again.

1 bottle of white wine (I used Be.Fresh from Be.Wines)
3 cans of Fresca (I used about 2/3 of a 2 liter bottle)
Fresh fruit (I used grapes, sliced peaches and halved strawberries)
